Garmin levels up helm technology with new GPSMAP 9000xsv series

Garmin has announced the launch of its new GPSMAP 9000xsv series, expanding its flagship range of multifunctional displays. The new series, available in 10-, 13-, and 17-inch touchscreen models, is designed for users seeking performance and integration at the helm.

The 9000xsv lineup features integrated xChirp traditional sonar and UHD scanning sonar for detailed underwater imaging, alongside 4K resolution displays and 5GHz WiFi for faster connectivity and software updates.

The new 13- and 17-inch displays are the first marine products to incorporate mini LED backlighting, delivering improved brightness, contrast, and sunlight readability. Garmin notes that this results in sharper, more vibrant imagery for charts, sonar returns and onboard entertainment.

Users also benefit from RapidReturnsonar technology, doubling the update rate for smoother scrolling and clearer target separation. The multifunction displays include Garmin’s SailAssist suites, offering sailing polars, laylines, and real-time wind data.

The 5GHz WiFi enables users to perform wireless updates through the ActiveCaptain app, and Garmin BlueNet gigabit networking enables integration of multiple displays, radars, sonars, and cameras.

Preloaded Garmin Navionics+ charts come as standard, with the option to upgrade to Navionics Vision+ for high-resolution and more navigation features.

The new 9000xsv series joins the GPSMAP range, with Garmin having launched the ultra-wide GPSMAP 15 x 3 chartplotter earlier this year.

Susan Lyman, Garmin vice president of consumer sales and marketing, comments: “We’re excited to bring the premium features of the GPSMAP 9000 chartplotter series to even more display sizes. With Garmin’s most advanced built-in sonar, faster processing power than previous generations, higher screen resolution, and expanded connectivity, the GPSMAP 9000xsv chartplotters are a complete and seamless solution at the helm.”

The Garmin GPSMAP 9000xsv chartplotters are expected to be available this month (November 2025). Each model can be flat or flush-mounted to fit a variety of helm configurations.
