Ancasta Group announces change in ownership

Ancasta Group, a yacht brokerage and new boat distribution company based in Southampton, UK, has confirmed that founder Nick Griffith has sold a majority shareholding in the business to Ancasta franchise owner Matthew Shave for an undisclosed sum.

The company employs 103 people and reports an annual turnover in excess of £50m. The group includes several marine companies: Ancasta International Boat Sales, Sanlorenzo Yachts UK, PB Europe, Ancasta Yacht Services, Spencer Rigging and Advanced Rigging & Hydraulics.

It operates from 22 offices across Europe. Its activities include yacht brokerage, new boat distribution and a range of related services such as refit, rigging and aftersales support.

Following the transaction, Matthew Shave takes on the role of CEO, overseeing day-to-day operations. Nick Griffith becomes chair, with responsibilities focused on strategic oversight and support for the executive team.

The change in ownership marks a shift in the company’s structure. The group is set to continue its operations in brokerage and new boat sales, alongside its franchise network and service divisions.

Commenting on the transaction, Griffith says: “I am incredibly proud of what Ancasta has achieved over the past 25 years. Matthew is the right person to lead the business forward, and I look forward to supporting him in my new role as chairman.”

Shave adds: “Ancasta is a highly respected brand with a strong reputation across the marine industry. I am excited to take on this role and to work with the team to continue scaling the business, strengthening our partnerships with leading shipyards, and delivering high-quality, full-service solutions to our clients.”

The business continues to operate across its European network under the new leadership structure.
