A fire has swept through and destroyed much of Marker 37 Marina in Corpus Christi, Texas. The fire damaged dock infrastructure and multiple vessels, with the fire department and officials remaining on site to investigate the cause of the fire.
An official statement from Marker 37 stated the fire destroyed most of the wet slips and many of the fishing guides’ boats.
The team said: ‘We are incredibly grateful that no one was hurt, but we know several guides lost their livelihoods overnight. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.’
In a further post this week on the marina’s social media, Marker 37 confirmed the marina will remain closed until further notice.
According to local media outlet KRIS 6 News, at least 20 boats and more than 200ft of dock structure were destroyed in the blaze.
Marker 37 Marina has confirmed its retail stores, The Polynesian Bar, Hemingway Grill, Hemingway Bar, Snoopy’s, Scoopy’s and The Cuban were not affected by the fire. The company says it is working as hard as possible so it can reopen and restore normal operations.
