Specialist boat and marine trade insurer Haven Knox-Johnston Specialist and Commercial, part of Howden, is relocating to new premises at Yacht Haven Quay in Plymouth, UK.
The company says the relocation is a strategic move, which places the insurer at the heart of the south west’s boating community and enables the team to work even more closely with marinas, yacht clubs, and marine service providers.
“At Haven Knox-Johnston Specialist and Commercial, we believe that the best way to serve boat owners is by being where they are,” says Steve Hook, marine divisional director at Howden UK&I Retail. “Opening our new office at Yacht Haven Quay Plymouth allows us to connect with our customers on a deeper level, offering a truly personalised service.”
While the marine industry is a great place to trade and develop a business, HKJ says the sector does come with more than its fair share of risk, to add to the complexity of the day-to-day running. Its business departments are specialised in helping marine businesses.
In October 2025, Haven Knox-Johnston Commercial launched a new risk management tool designed to help marine businesses assess their exposure to risk.
Marina Ellis, marine account manager and Plymouth office manager at Haven Knox-Johnston, adds: “Yacht Haven Quay Plymouth is a fantastic hub for the boating community, and we’re thrilled to be part of it. The team are excited to be able to help local boat owners and businesses from our new base.”
