Molabo, a German manufacturer of high-performance electric propulsion systems, has appointed Tommi Salonen as head of global marine sales.
Salonen will lead the firm’s commercial growth in the expanding electric boating market. He brings more than two decades of international experience in marine propulsion, boat manufacturing and equipment, with previous roles including leadership positions at Quick S.p.A, Torqeedo and BRP.
Adrian Patzak, CCO of Molabo, says: “Tommi’s broad experience in network development, business transformation and global sales makes him the right person to accelerate our next phase of growth.”
In his new position, Salonen will develop Molabo’s sales strategy and expand its network of OEM and distribution partners worldwide, representing the company at upcoming events, including at the upcoming Metstrade 2025.
Salonen adds: “Molabo has proven that you don’t need high voltage to deliver serious performance, and I’m excited to bring this patented technology to even more industry partners. The 48 V platform is ideal for high-volume shipyards that can’t afford downtime for specialised HV installation on their busy production lines. ARIES systems are straightforward to fit, reliable and built for seamless OEM integration.”
A lifelong sailor and ocean racer, Salonen says he is motivated by the practical benefits of electric propulsion. “Creating systems that make boating quieter, safer and more sustainable reflects both my personal passion and Molabo’s mission,” he says.
