Freedom Boat Club has acquired the Freedom Boat Club of Greater Boston & Cape Cod franchise operations, which comprises 21 locations across Greater Boston, Cape Cod and the surrounding areas.
Freedom Boat Club of Greater Boston & Cape Cod is the largest current franchise in the Freedom network. The sale also includes a maintenance operations centre and dealership, strengthening Freedom’s regional maintenance and fleet resale capabilities.
Established in 1989 in Florida, Freedom Boat Club is the largest boat club in the world and was acquired by Brunswick Corporation in 2019, joining marine brands including Mercury Marine, Bayliner Boats, Boston Whaler, Lund, and Sea Ray.
The Greater Boston and Cape Cod boat club
The Greater Boston and Cape Cod operation was founded by Matt Carrick and Matt O’Connor, who built one of the most successful operations in the Freedom franchise network.

Following the acquisition, O’Connor and Carrick will remain Freedom Boat Club franchisees, continuing to operate their club locations in Ocean and Monmouth County, NJ, and remaining actively involved in the ownership group running Freedom Boat Club of Ohio and Freedom Boat Club of Pittsburgh.

In January 2026, Brunswick reported full-year and fourth-quarter results for 2025, up 2.4 per cent on the prior year.
