IBEX and Metstrade launch US market entry programme

IBEX and Metstrade have partnered with the National Marine Representatives Association and the Marine Marketers of America to introduce an export-focused programme aimed at helping international companies enter the US leisure marine market.

The programme includes a new exhibition package at IBEX, the North American technical trade event for the marine industry. IBEX 2026 marks the event’s 36th edition.

According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association, the US recreational boating market generates about $230bn in annual economic impact and supports more than 812,000 jobs. Consumer spending on boats, marine products and related services reached about $55.6bn in 2024, including $32.3bn in new boat, engine and accessories sales.

The joint initiative begins at IBEX, taking place from 6 – 8 October 2026 in Tampa, Florida. It will combine exhibition space, networking opportunities and educational sessions for companies looking to establish a presence in the US market.

The International Pavilion at IBEX will host participating companies in a dedicated exhibition area near one of the event entrances.

The programme is designed to support companies during the early stages of entering the North American market. Participants will be able to take part in pre-arranged meetings with distributors and sales representatives through a programme organised with the National Marine Representatives Association.

The programme also includes a seminar series titled “How to successfully launch marine products in North America”. Sessions will cover market positioning, communications, distribution models and regulatory requirements. Participants are expected to attend a pre-event webinar before the exhibition.

Mary Velline, IBEX show director, says: “The US leisure marine market operates very differently from the rest of the world, and understanding these differences is essential for commercial success. By combining exposure, networking and education in close collaboration with experienced partners, this programme provides international companies with a strong foundation for entering the US market.”

David Pilvelait, president of the National Marine Representatives Association, says: “The US leisure marine industry is highly relationship-driven. Our network of independent sales representatives understands the market state by state and is eager to connect with companies that have strong products and realistic growth ambitions.”

Alisdair Martin, president of Marine Marketers of America, adds: “The US remains one of the most exciting growth markets in the world for marine businesses. Our goal is to help participating companies maximise the value of their IBEX experience and leave with a stronger understanding of the opportunities, challenges and dynamics of doing business in North America. Through MMA’s involvement, we hope to provide valuable market context and support that helps participants make informed decisions as they develop their US growth strategy.”

International companies interested in joining the IBEX International Pavilion export programme, which is limited to 30 companies, can email the IBEX team for further information.

Exhibitors can now book exhibition space at Metstrade.
