Rolls-Royce extends yacht systems agreement with Overmarine

Rolls-Royce Power Systems has expanded its existing partnership with Italian boatbuilder Overmarine through a framework agreement covering mtu NautIQ Bridge systems and 64 mtu Series 2000 engines. The agreement runs from 2026 to 2029 and includes yacht bridge integration for the first time.

The contract covers 12V 2000 and 16V 2000 engines, including two systems with four engines. The mtu NautIQ Bridge solution will be introduced to the Mangusta Oceano 52 yacht range, bringing together the bridge, energy management and propulsion systems through coordinated hardware and software.

“Yacht builders want one thing above all else: a system that simplifies operations on board,” says Gianluca Bononi, managing director at Rolls-Royce Power Systems in Italy. “Overmarine has relied on our mtu engines for years – and with our approach of viewing the yacht as a seamless system, we are taking the next step together. Close coordination with the Overmarine teams ensures that propulsion, automation and technical design mesh precisely, making the yachts more efficient and comfortable.”

Overmarine CEO Maurizio Balducci adds: “Our Mangusta Oceano models require propulsion systems that run reliably and fit the vessel perfectly. Rolls-Royce Power Systems has been supplying them to us for years.

“With the new framework agreement, control and propulsion are now even more closely integrated – this simplifies construction and enhances comfort for our owners.”

Overmarine has used mtu propulsion systems across much of its yacht fleet for several years, with almost all yachts powered by mtu Series 2000 engines. The new agreement extends this partnership, with Rolls-Royce Power Systems supplying propulsion systems made up of 64 engines across the 12-cylinder and 16-cylinder configurations.

Rolls-Royce Power Systems provides lifecycle support for yacht systems through maintenance packages, its global mtu service network and refit concepts designed to support the modernisation and continued operation of existing yachts.
