SailGP has published its provisional calendar for the 2027 Rolex SailGP Championship, with the season scheduled to open in Hong Kong on Victoria Harbour in January 2027. The proposed schedule includes 13 events across several regions, and confirms San Francisco’s return after a one-season absence.
The Rolex SailGP Championship features national teams competing in identical F50 foiling catamarans at venues worldwide, which reach speeds in excess of 100 km/h (60 mph). The total prize money for the series is US$12.8m.
The Hong Kong Sail Grand Prix is listed for January 23-24, 2027. It is set to be the first round of a calendar that also includes stops in Australia, Europe, North America, South America and the Middle East.
The race calender announcement follows a period of growth for SailGP. In 2025, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds were named as two new co-owners of Australia’s freshly rebranded Bonds Flying Roos SailGP Team. They were following in the footsteps of Hollywood star Anne Hathaway, who also bought into the Red Bull Italy SailGP team in 2025. Coalition Capital, owned by French football superstar Kylian Mbappé, has also invested in the France SailGP Team.
SailGP CEO and co-founder Russell Coutts says: “SailGP’s 2027 Season represents a major step forward – reflecting both the scale of our ambition, and the strength of the demand we’re seeing from cities and partners globally wanting to be part of the championship.
“Hong Kong is a world-class destination for SailGP – and a venue we expect to deliver strong commercial interest and an unmatched fan experience. Victoria Harbour is built for the close-to-shore stadium racing SailGP is becoming known for around the globe.”

Hong Kong is a special administrative region (SAR) of China, located to the east of the Pearl River estuary.
Coutts adds: “China represents a strategic long-term growth opportunity for SailGP. Given their rapid rise to be amongst the top countries in Olympic sailing, the strong existing audience interest, and the potential for a future team, we couldn’t be more excited to bring SailGP to Asia’s World City next January, alongside our partners globally and in the region.”
After Hong Kong, the championship is heading back to Perth in Western Australia, one of the established venues on the circuit. The North American run then includes events in San Francisco, Bermuda, Halifax and New York.
From there, the season is due to move to Europe, beginning with the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix in Portsmouth. The provisional schedule then lists Sassnitz in Germany and Valencia in Spain, followed by an Italy Sail Grand Prix, with the specific location yet to be confirmed.

The final stretch includes events in Rio de Janeiro and Dubai. SailGP says the winner-takes-all Grand Final venue will be confirmed in the coming months.
SailGP also notes that several venues on the 2027 calendar are expected to return in 2028 and beyond under multi-season hosting agreements.
Tickets for 2027 season events are expected to go on sale soon. Some dates and venues remain provisional.

The news comes after the Spanish SailGP team was acquired by Israeli billionaire Idan Ofer’s Quantum Pacific Group in April 2026.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. However, the amount is likely to be around $60m (£45m), which is what Orlando Magic owner Doug DeVos paid for the Danish-based Rockwool Racing SailGP Team in February.
